On July 31, 2024, the GEM 10,000-ton key energy metal cobalt flake project officially commenced production at the Jingmen Park.
The 10,000-ton Cobalt Flake project utilizes the latest electro-deposition process and intelligent equipment through independent innovation, to stably produce cobalt flakes that meet the Co9995 grade standard, meaning cobalt content exceeds 99.95%. This represents an innovative upgrade to the company's existing cobalt flake projects and a deep extension of the company's new energy material industry chain.
The cobalt flakes with GEM brand are of global quality and have been successfully registered as a London LME delivery brand, representing an over 30% of the global market share and over 50% of the European market share. The GEM brand cobalt, as a core material for cobalt batteries, powers more than 20% of the world's smartphones and NMC-battery electric vehicles.
Cobalt, as a strategic resource of key energy metals, is not only a key element for new energy but is also widely used in industries such as machinery manufacturing, electronics and electrical appliances, aerospace, and is known as the "blood of new energy," "industrial flavoring," and "industrial teeth," playing an irreplaceable role in the new energy industry and the modern industrial system.
As one of the leaders in the world’s circular economy, GEM adheres to the corporate mission of “Turn Rubbish into Resources, Transform Waste in Wealth”, taking the lead in exploiting urban mines of cobalt resources and building the world's largest recycled cobalt base.
This project actively practices the environmental concepts of green design, clean production, recycling, and emission reduction, greatly enhancing the market competitiveness of the products and making a positive contribution to the carbon emission reduction targets.
